Lock the keyboard and trackpad while your Mac keeps working
Keys, clicks and scrolling are ignored until you unlock. Useful when a cat, a child or a cleaning cloth gets near your keyboard.
- Locks the keyboard, trackpad and mouse
- Your Mac keeps running everything underneath
- Hold the Cat mode button, or press ⌃⌥⌘U, to unlock
- Unlocks by itself when your session ends
- For cats, kids and cleaning
- Cats love warm keyboards. Toddlers love buttons. And wiping down a keyboard usually means typing gibberish into something. Cat mode makes your Mac ignore all of it while it carries on with the real work.
- Unlocking is easy, on purpose
- To unlock, hold the Cat mode button in Pulsida or press ⌃⌥⌘U. A paw can't do either by accident. Cat mode also unlocks on its own when your keep-awake session ends.
- Private by design
- Cat mode needs your permission in macOS the first time you use it. It uses that permission only to ignore input while it's on. Your keys and clicks are dropped, never read or stored.

Questions and answers
How do I lock my Mac's keyboard without locking the screen?
Turn on Cat mode in Pulsida. The keyboard, trackpad and mouse stop responding, but your screen and apps keep running. Hold the Cat mode button or press ⌃⌥⌘U to unlock.
Does Cat mode see what I type?
No. While Cat mode is on, your keys and clicks are dropped. Pulsida never reads, records or stores them.
Why do some keys still work in Cat mode?
When a password field is active, macOS protects your typing from every other app, Pulsida included. In that case keys get through, clicks stay blocked, and Pulsida tells you so.
