Keep your Mac awake with the lid closed
Close the lid and your Mac carries on with what it was doing. Only the screen turns off.
AI agents
- No external display, keyboard or mouse needed
- Works on battery or on power
- Switches itself off at 10% battery or if your Mac gets too hot
- Puts normal sleep back when you stop, when the timer ends or when you quit
- Why a closed Mac usually stops
- A Mac laptop goes to sleep when you close it. That's a good default, but it also pauses everything in progress: downloads, builds, renders, uploads and AI agents. Most keep-awake apps can stop your Mac sleeping while it's open, but not once the lid comes down.
- What Pulsida does instead
- Turn on Closed lid in the menu bar and close your laptop. The screen turns off to save power, and your Mac stays awake underneath. When you open it again, everything has carried on.
- Set up once
- The first time you turn on Closed lid, Pulsida asks for your Mac's password once to set itself up. After that it's a single click. You can remove the setup any time from Pulsida's settings.
- Always back to normal
- When you stop, when the timer runs out or when you quit Pulsida, your Mac goes back to sleeping the way it always has. If Pulsida ever quits unexpectedly, your Mac returns to normal sleep on its own within a minute.

Questions and answers
Do I need an external display to use closed-lid mode?
No. Pulsida keeps your Mac awake with the lid closed without an external display, keyboard or mouse.
Does closed-lid mode work on battery?
Yes. It works on battery and on power. On battery, Pulsida turns closed-lid mode off by itself at 10% so your Mac can sleep before it runs out.
Is it safe to keep a MacBook running with the lid closed?
Yes, as long as it can breathe. Use it on a desk or another open surface rather than in a bag. Pulsida also switches closed-lid mode off if your Mac gets critically hot, and sends you a notification.
